the Knot Industry Party

Hey All..Above was my only group shot that I took. Below you will Greta's version.
Snuck in there is Jose on the Bottom Left, Rowell to the top left, Bob dead center, Lyhnda, Tamera, Myself. I will be letting you know who these people are better later.
I had a blast on Thursday night. My assistant Jose attended with me. It was the Knot's annual industry party. It is thrown nation wide in majority of the cities that they service.

The party was held at the Palace Ballroom on 5th Ave in Seattle. It is actually quite a nice location with lots of windows. A beautiful place for lots of natural light during the Summer. Catering was done by the famous Tom Douglas who was actually on site doing some of the cooking. A chef of his notariety cooking for us. WOW!!! Unfortunately I was not blown away by the actual food. They had some mini hum bao dumplings, roasted duck, crab cakes and a few other finger foods. They were decent at best. The alcohol was free and flowing. I was, of course, happy to oblige taking my share of the white wine and champagne.

I was able to meet some amazing people in the wedding industry and meetup with some that I already knew. It was interesting alot of the stories that we shared. Brides. Please understand and take no offense. We all shared stories of brides that would go from one wedding partner to the next trying to wage a price bidding. Please note, that majority of the people in Seattle know each other. Photographers are friends with other photographers, florists with other florists, bakers with other bakers, etc... We do meet up, we do talk, we do know what eachother does, capable of doing, and pricing.

I was busy talking to so many people so I only took a couple of photos.
I will list people or places that I am excited to be adding to my list of recommended partners on another blog..

Misti and Todd's Wedding

My August 11th Wedding
I had a great time photographing Todd and Misti's Wedding. They were married at the Woodland Park Rose Garden. The day started out cold and grey, but before the wedding started the sun came out to brighten the day.
This was one of the most relaxed couples I have ever worked with. They began the ceremony about 10 minutes early, and they almost forgot to use the grooms boutonniere and the brides bouquet.

Enjoy!!!!

Stopped by the house

I stopped by the house today as they will soon be covering up the walls. The county inspector came by within the last week or so and found some problems. I want to ensure that all of the issues has been corrected. Also (and unfortunately) as you can see from the picture, I was inspired to sing a rendition of Macho Man by the Village People.

Here is the fire place. The heating and air onditioning are being installed as well.

They are also installing the jet tub as you can see below.

Have a good one!!!!

Last Tuesday in Review

Tuesday
My friend of 10 years, a Captain in the Army Nurse Corps, called me up saying..."Hey, I'm in town!" I was like "Oh...Cool...I didn't know you where in town." She wound up coming over for dinner with myself, Maida and Jose and we wound up catching up.
We got to talking about old times in high school and college and it's awesome to reminisce. She also just finished purchasing a home in Vegas and we wound up talking about her home and mine. I'm kinda jealous because I LOOOVE Vegas.

My house is bigger though ;-P

Wednesday and Thursday
They were basically prep days for the weddings this weekend.
Look for those in the Weekend In Review.

Weekend Weddings In Review

I'm kind of working backwards. Here is Saturdays wedding. I will post Fridays wedding later this week.
Saturday
Last Saturday I photographed Craig and Sarah's wedding at the Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church. Craig had his old youth pastor, Eric, flown in from California to perform the ceremony. It was special for Eric as well, since it was his first official marriage ceremony. It was very moving as these two are tremendously sweet and loving towards one another.

Sarah started the day horribly. Sarah and her sister was 10 minutes or so late for her hair appointment at the Gene Jaurez salon and they wound up basically being turned away. Even though they told them it was her wedding day, they said only one person can have their hair done. They wound up going to another salon that did an awesome job. No appointment there to boot.

Well the day was beautiful, the dress was beautiful, but best of all, the bride was beautiful and things went smoothly from then on.
I am sure they will have the best time on their honeymoon.

Week In Review (Last Monday)

I've been a bit busy last week so here is what I did!!!
Monday
As I said earlier this week, I had my second and final upgrade meeting for my new home. My appointment was at 9AM. It was time to choose the countertops and flooring at Super Floors in Kent. Maida and my father came with me to help me choose.

I had been emailing my designer for several weeks trying to get estimates on what I can afford to do. I wanted wood floors, and granite countertops. That was my biggest things. I estimated all of that plus granite tiles in the powder room and ceramic tiles for the master bathroom to be close to $25,000. I had to put 20% down, so basically I had to have $5k to put down. No problem. I get there we go through everything I wanted and BAM!!!! I was UNDERBUDGET!!!! I was only at $19,500. I went on to add ceramic tiles for the floors in the master bathroom and then ceramic tiles for the hallway bathroom counters and floors. I came in about $5000 below budget. YES!!!

Lunch was definitely calling, and we had lunch at PHO Tai. Awesome stuff.

Later that night I had dinner with my assistant Jose and Mike at Bahama Breeze in Tukwila.
Mike will be working with me for my upcoming wedding on August 19th.
As far as the food, I ordered as seafood dish. The food was just dreadfully dry. I could not finish it. Mike and Jose enjoyed their dinners.

My day today

I haven't blogged in a while, sorry about that.

Today I am going to Superfloors in Kent. Yes. I am going to the right one this time.

I pick my floors and countertops today. I'm pretty excited. The appointment is going to be a three to four hour selection session.

It's always fun shopping!!!

Lunch will be at Pho Tai. Love that stuff. Cheap, yet tasty and filling.

Later tonight, I will be having dinner with another photographer. Mike Nakamura is an up and coming wedding photographer and he will be working with me for my August 19th wedding.

I'll post photographs from the last few weeks of my house chronicles and a portrait session that I did later tonight or tomorrow.

Laters....
